It is summertime, so let’s “go nuts” with a trail mix recipe created especially for kids! Not only will the little cooks have fun with essential oils, but they will also learn to make a tasty, healthful snack that you can all enjoy.
HAPPY TRAIL MIX
- 1 ¼ cup almonds
- 1 ¼ cup pecans
- 1 ¼ cup walnuts
- 1 cup sunflower seeds
- ¾ cup shelled pumpkin seeds
- 2/3 cup Young Living’s Blue Agave, Yacon Syrup, or raw honey
- ½ cup flaxseed
- 1–2 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil
- 1 cup dried cranberries or raisins
- 1 cup dried banana slices
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- ¾ cup chopped dates
Preheat oven to 300˚F. In a large bowl, combine nuts and seeds. In a cup or small bowl, mix your choice of sweetener with Cinnamon Bark essential oil. Combine the two bowls and mix well until nuts and seeds are well coated. Bake for 15 minutes. Turn mixture over in pan and continue baking for approximately 10 more minutes. Mixture should be dry. Watch carefully to avoid burning the mixture.
Allow the mixture to cool completely. Add dried fruit and coconut to mixture and stir. Mix can be stored in an airtight container or kept in the freezer.
